How To Mod Textures In The Game
|
|
In the past, Tigger had a tutorial on how to mod, we thought he did
such a good job in his tutorial, we would just leave it for him to do.
Sinse then he has decided to remove his tutorial, and sinse we
thought he did such a gr8 job at it, we asked him if we could use his,
with a few chnages. So just for your information, this is basically his
tutorial with some changes.
In order to attempt this time consuming process you will need a texture editing program. We recomend adobe photo shop or jasc paint shop pro. other programs like ms paint, or photo suite will work, but will NOT make transparent images. The first thing you need to know about creating MODS is that you are altering the original files of the game. This means that you can suddenly experience problems with the game if you make a mistake. It is important to make a back up of your game before you proceed. If you look in the mod tools page, you will see UR or URCD mod tools, these will tell you how to do a backup. You can re-install the game if you mess things up, but it's wise to be prepared with a backup. Once you have backed up your game, you should feel better about diving into the game directories. Try the following steps in the box to explore the folders of the game. If you do not see the folders in the below pic, then you have not fully installed the game onto your system or done a backup. You can re-install it with the full installation option located in the Advanced Button during the install setup, and back up with the previously mentioned tools.
![]() Welcome to the main folder where all of the game folders reside. It is here where you may want to explore and see what you can actually modify. I reccommend taking a look in the THEMES and ENVIRONMENTS folders. These are the two most common areas that MODS are created for and are replaced with the original files. Explore with me.
![]() Cool! You have just discovered the texture file that makes the walls of the small tower in the game. The building looks cool, but with graphic editing, in the program of your choice, you can replace that file with a new one. You can replace the colors, add designs, or add text. ![]() Original............Modded When completed, the file must be the exact same pixel size as it originally was before you edited it. That is easy so long as you do not paint or add outside of the original boundaries. It is important to check to see if the save option does not have a compression feature enabled. This will screw up the size of the file and it will not work. Make sure that you save the new file as it's same name and is in the same folder as the original. To make the new file work, they must replace it with the original file in the game directory. This whole process gets easier each time you do it and it is definitely worth the frustration and hours of work that goes into these great modifications. MODing is really experimental. Sometimes you may notice the file just created is upside down when you get in the game. It takes a lot patience and skill. A bit of graphic knowledge is handy too. But most folks can dive in and at least change some colors around or add text to their rides. Get a little practice in now because the future looks very bright with Ultimate Ride. When you have modded all the files you wish for your coaster, open the URCD mod tools, and double click the package icon. It will then ask you for a name for your mods, and package them for you. After it says package is complete, go back to the URCD folder (C:/Program Files/Disney Imagineering/Ultimate Ride/) and youll see a new folder called Mods. Go in this folder and youll see a folder with the name of your mods on it. Zip this folder with powerarchiver. Now you have a fully zipped mod package with all your mods in it. unless you add music to this zip, just leave directons in it telling people to extract all files in the zip to C:/Program Files/Disney Imagineering/Ultimate Ride/ I hope you enjoyed this, and MTTM or Tigger are not responible of any problems that might accure by modding files. Remember all files have been backed up, so you can always replace changed files by double clicking the restore icon in the mod tools. | |||
